Product details

Adelphi Selections is one of Scotland’s most celebrated independent bottlers, tracing its roots back to the original Adelphi Distillery in Glasgow from 1825. Although the original distillery ceased production in the early 20th century, the Adelphi name was revived in 1993 under Jamie Walker and has since flourished under owners Keith Falconer and Donald Houston, who continue to uphold the brand’s legacy of selecting exceptionally rare casks with extraordinary flavor potential. Cask No. 300966 is drawn from Dailuaine distillery in Speyside—a whisky known predominantly for its role in Diageo blends but here spotlighted at full glory as a single cask, full‑strength release (54.2% ABV, 108.4 proof). Matured for nine years in a first‑fill Oloroso sherry hogshead, this bottling is limited to only about 258 bottles, reflecting Adelphi’s meticulous focus on rarity and terroir-driven character.

This whisky opens with a complex, evocative nose: notes of cotton and beeswax blend with worn leather, salty buttered pumpernickel, Panettone, key-lime pie crust, Dr. Pepper sweetness, and a jar of Amarena cherries. On the palate it evolves into indulgent, buttery pancakes, gingerbread dough, and a Manhattan-like combination of bourbon-soaked cherries, vermouth, and Angostura bitters—bright grapefruit, glazed doughnuts, Grand Marnier, and chicory coffee round out the experience. The finish is long, rich and waxy—at once sweet yet dry, with a lingering sherried warmth and elegant restraint. This bold, spiced‑rich dram is a superb companion for ginger‑spiced desserts, cherry‑glazed ham, or toasted brioche with cheese. It also pairs beautifully with aged Gouda or Comté, dark chocolate ganache, or robust dishes like duck breast with cherry sauce—each enhancing its fruity richness and sherry-driven spice.
