Adelphi Selection Cask No. 2369 is a single-cask bottling drawn from a first‑fill bourbon barrel, distilled in 2011 at the venerable Glen Garioch Distillery in the Highland region and matured for 12 years before being bottled at cask strength (57.2 % ABV). This release is part of Adelphi’s celebrated program of rare, flavour-driven single casks—each chosen for its unique character and “never two Adelphis quite the same” signature. Limited to just 199 bottles, it offers the perfect showcase of Glen Garioch’s traditional profile: hearty malt complexity and unchill-filtered purity, bottled with reverence for provenance and flavour.
On the nose, the whisky bursts with orchard fruits—Bosc pear and nectarine—layered with intriguing spice and savory notes like black pepper, ouzo, cayenne, plum sauce, hoisin, ginger, and almond. The palate evolves into sweet complexity: luscious medjool dates, rum raisin ice cream, Chinese five‑spice, tamarind, and candied orange peel, delivering a creamy yet vibrant mouthfeel. It finishes dry, bold, and spicy, yet balanced by a residual sweetness of fruit and gentle oak, leaving a medium‑length warmth. For food pairings, this dram shines alongside aged hard cheeses (think Parmigiano-Reggiano or mature Comté), spiced duck breast, or a dessert plate featuring candied orange tart or gingerbread—each complementing the whisky’s orchard, spice, and citrus‑sweet character for a truly elevated tasting experience.
