Product details

Adelphi Selection, resurrected in the early 2000s by Jamie Walker from the legacy of Glasgow’s historic Adelphi distillery (1826–1932), has since become a premier independent bottler of rare, single‑cask Scotch whiskies. Under the discerning direction of Charles MacLean, each release—like this 1992 vintage—is chosen for its maturity, rarity, and intensity of flavor. The 32‑year‑old “Breath of Speyside” comes from Cask No. 921, carefully aged in a refill bourbon barrel. At 48.6% ABV, it's non‑chill‑filtered and naturally coloured, with just 169 bottles released worldwide.

On the nose it unfolds with an elegant harmony of gooseberry, honeydew melon, orchid petals, and a lift of lemon sorbet, interlaced with subtle wet stone and fresh coconut‑milk chocolate notes. The palate brings richer tones—almond‑cake sweetness, Cointreau‑like citrus, ripe peach and cantaloupe—with a whisper of dry spice, strawberry‑Twizzlers sweetness, and a touch of anise. The finish remains bright and vivid for its age, with herbal dryness and a clean, lingering herbal finish. Thanks to its delicate balance of fruit, spice, and oak, this dram pairs beautifully with a citrus‑zest panna cotta, almond biscotti, or a refined cheese board featuring aged Comté or a lightly herbed goat cheese. The slight sweetness and herbal lift would also charm alongside fruit tarts or a lemon‑thyme shortbread.
