Product details
Originating from the historic Hospices de Beaune—an institution founded in 1443 and famed for its annual charitable auction—this cuvée is one of the Premier Cru offerings named in tribute to a benefactor, “Rousseau-Deslandes.” Managed post-auction by Bouchard Père & Fils, the lot comes from a blend of three climats including Cent Vignes, Clos de la Mignotte, and Montrevenots, which rest on a mix of clay and chalky marls. The 2007 vintage shines with a beautifully intense ruby color that immediately signals depth and vibrancy. Crafted with a high proportion of new oak, it achieves a balance between elegance, supple freshness, and a suave, harmonious texture characteristic of Beaune’s limestone soils.
The nose is lively and inspiring, layering red and black fruits with delicate floral and spice accents. On the palate, it reveals an energetic core of cherry, berry and pomegranate brightness, underpinned by fine tannins and a mineral edge that keeps the profile precise. The finish is long and graceful, with fruit persistence and a subtle lift. This cuvée pairs beautifully with dishes that echo its earthy yet refined character—mushroom risotto, rack of lamb with herbs, or semi-strong cheeses all make excellent companions, highlighting both its depth and finesse.
