Product details
Domaine Douhairet-Porcheret traces its roots back over three centuries in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, now led by Cataldina Lippo and Vincent Monfort, who continue its legacy under sustainable farming practices. Les Fremiers—meaning “firm or solid” in old French—is a small 0.194 ha parcel at the southern tip of Pommard bordering Volnay, where limestone and clay soils combine to impart both structure and finesse. Grapes are hand-picked and fully destemmed, fermented with gentle extraction, then matured for around 18 months in French oak barrels, only about 10% of them new, resulting in a refined yet powerful presentation.
This 2021 release offers a layered aromatic profile—ripe dark and red cherries, blackberry, with floral tones of violet and a subtle mentholated lift. On the palate, it feels full-bodied but elegantly balanced, with concentrated dark fruit flavors supported by firm, fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity. The finish is persistent and structured, showing spice nuances and a polished mineral edge that speaks to the terroir of Les Fremiers. This profile is classic Pommard: serious, layered, and built for both enjoyment now and graceful evolution over time.
