Glenfiddich x Aston Martin 48 Year Old 1977 is a limited-edition expression created to commemorate the partnership between two brands united by heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation. Originally laid down in 1977 and matured for 48 years, this vintage expression received a finishing period in a specially coopered European oak sherry cask selected by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman. The 1970s represented an important period for both brands: Glenfiddich introduced its iconic stag’s head bottle design and completed the construction of a new still house, while Aston Martin was advancing automotive design and performance through forward-looking concepts. The resulting collaboration connects these defining moments through a mature expression shaped by decades of careful maturation and a specially selected European oak finish.
The appearance is deep amber with copper highlights, a rich honey-gold glow, and a warm mahogany edge. On the nose, red berry sweetness combines with crumbly butter pastry, gentle spice, and a subtle touch of sherbet lemon. The palate develops layers of dry oak tannin, sweet stewed fruit, and toasted woody spice, with the flavors gradually changing as the expression rests on the palate. The finish brings lingering sweet oak and spice, followed by toasted wood and sherry-softened sweetness with a refined warmth.
