Product details
Roots back to 1268 in the village of Volnay, and today, it under the direction of Thibaud Clerget, continues a legacy of careful stewardship and artisanal focus. The production blends precision and tradition: indigenous yeast, about 50 % whole clusters, and maturation in barrels (30 % new), resulting in a richly colored mid-crimson-purple expression with depth and poise.
On the nose, this 2021 release is expressive yet refined, offering lush notes of dark raspberry, floral accents reminiscent of rose petals, bramble fruit, a hint of mint, and a whisper of licorice alongside subtle spice. The palate strikes a harmonious balance between structure and elegance, with fine-grained tannins framing a core of dark and brambly red fruit, intertwined with floral lift and black pepper nuances. A long, stylish finish showcases the vineyard’s power meeting Clerget’s finesse—an approachable expression now, with aging potential well into the 2030s.
