The 2020 Boars’ View Estate Chardonnay is a radiant expression of coastal California winemaking, grown in the rugged Fort Ross–Seaview AVA of the West Sonoma Coast. Crafted by acclaimed winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, this Chardonnay showcases the synergy between terroir and talent. The vineyard, perched just two ridgelines from the Pacific Ocean, benefits from a unique microclimate where fog-laced mornings preserve acidity while sun-filled afternoons promote ripeness. Grown in silty clay soils and planted exclusively to the Wente clone, the fruit was aged for 15 months in 100% new François Frères French oak barrels, delivering a luxurious yet balanced profile.
In the glass, the 2020 vintage glows with a golden hue, offering racy aromas of neroli, lemon curd, white pepper, and violet. The palate is rich and sleek, bursting with butterscotch, crème brûlée, honeysuckle, Meyer lemon, and apricot, all layered seamlessly with the texture and toast of fine French oak. The wine’s energy and elegance are hallmarks of its cool-climate origins and meticulous vineyard management. A compelling match for lobster bisque, roasted chicken with lemon-herb butter, or soft cheeses like Brillat-Savarin, this Chardonnay demonstrates the best of Boars’ View’s precision and power—gracefully bottled in a winemaker’s vintage.
