Product details
Glenglassaugh’s legacy unfolds at the rugged edge of northeastern Scotland, where the cliffs cradle wild seas and biting salt-laced breezes. After a long period of quiet repose, the house reopened in 2008 and revealed a trove of precious casks hibernating in its coastal vaults. From these, a cask of extraordinary age was chosen—numbered 3582, laid down in 1972 and matured for half a century in virgin oak. The result is a release that speaks of meticulous patience, craftsmanship, and the intimate dialogue between wood, ambient air, and quiet time. Presented in a refined form and held in reserve for discerning collectors, this expression bears the mark of its environment: deep amber-bronze in hue, with a weighty yet elegant body that evokes the salt-touched air of its birthplace.
On the nose, one is greeted by a luscious overlay of red currant and sun-dried gorse, harmonised with blossom honey and salted toffee drizzled with star anise. On the palate, it unfurls into plush cassis and plum syrup, seamless guava flesh, silken cocoa, and a haunting echo of ocean spice. Each sip develops into a lingering finish, where sweet-dried fruit, velvety warmth, and briny undertones linger long after the moment has passed.
