Rooted in a proud heritage dating back to the early 19th century in the Scottish Highlands, this 40-year aged expression is a testament to patient maturation and refined artistry. Reserved casks from the 1970s and early 1980s were lovingly selected, each resting for four decades in Spanish oak containers of two distinct styles: Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez. These hand-picked oak vessels impart rich character, enabling a slow deepening of color and texture that only time can bestow. Limited in number and presented as a 2025 Edition, this release reflects decades of stewardship—and a pursuit of balance between intensity and elegance.
The aroma unfolds richly with layers of stewed dark fruits: plums, prunes, and ripe black cherry, all interwoven with cocoa-laden oak and touches of rose petal and potpourri that lend a floral lift. On the palate, you’ll find lush blackcurrant and prune, with velvety dark chocolate and vanilla threads cutting through, alongside baking spice and a suggestion of citrus peel to brighten. The finish is long, graceful, and layered—honeyed sweetness gives way to warming cinnamon and a fleeting clove, finally fading into delicate cocoa and espresso notes that linger long after the first sip.
