Fable Whisky is an independent single-cask and blended malt bottler founded on the art of storytelling, animation, and illustration, dedicated to releasing whiskies that are "Far From Ordinary." Each release is presented as a "chapter" in an imaginative tale—bottled in their purest form, with natural color, non–chill filtered, and bottled at cask strength. Chapter 3, titled Moon, draws from “The Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay” legend and features artwork by Hugo Cuellar that brings the myth vividly to life. This expression is a single-cask bottling of Dailuaine distilled in 2010 and bottled around April 2022, with just 308 bottles released from a hogshead cask, showcasing Fable’s precise, artisan approach.
On the nose, expect vibrant green apple, bold buttered burnt toast, plus grassy, nutty, and softly spiced nuances. The palate unfolds with generous vanilla sweetness, toasted malt, and a thick, creamy mouthfeel that evokes fruit strudel and baked apples; a splash of water reveals further grassy depth. The finish gently drifts away with sweet red apples, honey, naked cereals, and lingering vanilla. This elegantly balanced dram pairs beautifully with warm apple strudel or a slice of nut-forward cheesecake, where the toasty sweetness and orchard fruit character complement its creamy, spiced profile.
