Product details
The estate rooted in Monthélie, Côte de Beaune, with a history stretching back over three centuries before André Porcheret’s arrival in 1989 elevated its reputation. Today his granddaughter Catalina Lippo and partner Vincent guide the estate with a blend of traditional values and modern precision—farming organically, hand-harvesting, meticulous sorting, and banning herbicides and pesticides. Their 2022 En Champans comes from a steep, south-east facing Premier Cru slope in Volnay, featuring very old vines planted in thin, stony soils. Refined aging in French oak (about 10 percent new) yields a balanced, elegant expression that marries village energy with a clear sense of terroir and depth.
Upon first impression, this 2022 Volnay Champans reveals a vibrant bouquet of red cherries, ripe raspberries, and floral spice, underpinned by a subtle mineral tension. On the palate it offers silky texture and focused detail—soft red fruit layers mingle with pomegranate brightness and refined tannins that support a fresh, expansive mid-palate. A mineral-laden undercurrent gives lift and clarity, leading to a long, refined finish that carries persistent fruit character and a seamless energy typical of this terroir.
