Made only in select vintages, this is the estate’s smallest and most prized cru. Produced from a tiny, west-facing, 2-hectare (5 acres) vineyard planted on a steep hill in 1988, this is the winery’s oldest and most prized vineyard block.
The terrific 2013 Palafreno, 100% Merlot, is pliant, supple and super-expressive. Plum, black cherry, menthol, licorice, spice and dried flowers add aromatic nuance.
A beautiful, complex red with blackcurrants, sage, rosemary and sweet tobacco. Red tile, too. Full-bodied, very linear and fine-grained with great intensity and power. Such purity and length.
Deep ruby red in color. Hints of fresh red luscious berries and plums. Smooth and well balanced with a wild berry finish. Pairs perfectly with charcuterie, appetizers, cheeses, grilled and roasted meats, poultry, pasta and spicy seafood dishes.
