This is a medicinal flavored baijiu, apparently based on a fen jiu (shanxi province specialty), with bamboo flavoring and other Chinese medicines. It’s very much like a bamboo liqueur. It’s candy-sweet with a heavy medicinal front end.
Very smooth on the palate. It has a consistent but quite sour sauce flavor, and it stays steady to the finish. It’s striking how tangy that sauce is. It’s a very wet mouthfeel. The aftertaste is mild.

Moutai (Maotai) Prince is made from the same water source and quality grain as Kweichow Moutai (Maotai), though with a shorter distillation period, the Moutai (Maotai) Prince is a fresher, lighter and more delicate variation of Moutai (Maotai).
It has a complex floral aroma, complemented by pepper, ripe peach and toasted rice on the palate. This is combined with a slight sweetness from peach and pear notes.
Du Kang is a big distiller, but this is the first of their product line we’ve tried. It’s good! It’s got a very mild nose: something like cantaloupe on the first taste, musty pepper on the main palate.
