Noguchi Naohiko 01 Special Limited Edition Vol.2 is a highly limited collector’s release created to commemorate Naohiko Noguchi’s 90th birthday. Since establishing the Noguchi Naohiko Sake Institute in 2017, Noguchi has continued to explore the character of carefully aged expressions, drawing on his extensive experience and distinctive approach to craftsmanship. For this Special Edition, Noguchi personally selected and blended treasured reserves made during the institute’s early years, bringing together multiple vintages and rice varieties into a singular composition. Limited to 900 bottles, each example features a serial-numbered tag, while the exclusive Lapis Lazuli-colored presentation and original bottle design by renowned Ishikawa artist Toshio Ohi further distinguish this commemorative release. The result is a rare and highly individual expression created under Noguchi’s direct direction.
On the palate, Noguchi Naohiko 01 Special Limited Edition Vol.2 is characterized by a fresh lychee-like aroma, deep rice-derived umami enhanced through extended maturation, elegant acidity, and a long, lingering finish. The combination of layered umami and refined acidity gives the expression depth and balance, while the mature character adds complexity to its overall profile. Its rich umami makes it particularly well suited to dried fruit, caviar, and salami.
