Product details
Nakano Beni Nanko Umeshu is a luxurious plum wine crafted by Nakano BC, a distinguished brewery in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. Established in 1932, Nakano BC began as a soy sauce producer and has since evolved into a renowned maker of sake, shochu, and fruit liqueurs, with a particular emphasis on umeshu. This exquisite umeshu is made using the rare and prized Beni Nanko plums, which are distinguished by their vibrant red blush and are cultivated exclusively in the sun-drenched orchards of Minabe-cho, Wakayama. To preserve their freshness and flavor, the plums are handpicked in the morning and soaked in alcohol on the same day. Nakano BC employs a meticulous selection process, using 1.5 times the amount of plums compared to standard umeshu, ensuring a rich and authentic taste. The entire production is overseen by the toji (master brewer), who ensures that each batch captures the essence of the Beni Nanko plum.
The resulting umeshu boasts a delicate pink hue and a captivating peach-like aroma, characteristic of the Beni Nanko plum. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance of natural sweetness and lively acidity, with subtle floral and honeyed notes adding depth and complexity. With an alcohol content of 20%, this umeshu delivers a full-bodied experience that can be enjoyed in various ways: neat, on the rocks, or with a splash of soda. It pairs exceptionally well with a range of foods, including cheese, chocolate, and savory dishes like sukiyaki or simmered fish, enhancing the dining experience with its rich flavor profile. Nakano Beni Nanko Umeshu has garnered acclaim, winning the Grand Prix at Japan’s largest umeshu competition. This award-winning umeshu is a testament to Nakano BC's dedication to quality and tradition, offering a refined taste of Japan's esteemed plum wine heritage.
