Product details
The 2016 release embodies a rare synthesis of harmony and precision, born from a year of striking climatic contrasts. A cool, wet spring gave way to a warm, sun‑soaked summer with an intense late‑August heatwave, allowing the Pinot noir and Chardonnay components to flourish in distinct ways. The Pinot noirs absorbed the sun, yielding deeply concentrated fruit and a silky texture, while the Chardonnays developed a more chiselled, saline character that reflects the chalky soils of their origin. Together, they create a perfectly balanced expression, where sun‑ripened richness meets mineral-driven elegance, capturing both vitality and finesse in a single composition.
Visually, it presents a bright, luminous yellow, with slow, fine bubbles that rise gracefully. The bouquet is layered and precise, offering white floral notes of acacia, roasted citrus, and ripe yellow fruit such as peach and mirabelle plum. Subtle iodised and powdery nuances emerge with time, reflecting extended maturation on lees. On the palate, it is immediately soft and inviting, with concentrated, juicy fruit and a caressing texture from the chalky soil. Integrated tactile bubbles enhance the impression of silkiness, while delicate notes of wheat and oyster shell underpin the structured Chardonnays. The finish is long, crystalline, and saline, building to a crescendo of refined, pure, and concentrated flavors—an eloquent expression of balance, sapidity, and infinite grace.
