Product details
This 172ème Édition represents the fulfillment of Joseph Krug’s original vision: to create the finest expression possible each year, regardless of climate or harvest variations. Crafted around the 2016 harvest, this edition is a remarkable blend of 146 components sourced from 11 different years, the oldest dating back to 1998. Reserve selections from the Maison’s library account for 42% of the composition, adding profound depth and balance. The final harmony combines 44% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay, and 20% Meunier, resulting in a creation that required more than two decades of patient craftsmanship to achieve its signature generosity and refinement.
The experience begins with a luminous golden hue and a stream of fine, lively bubbles, offering a promise of elegance. The bouquet reveals blossoms in bloom alongside ripe, dried, and citrus fruits, lifted with accents of marzipan and gingerbread. On the palate, layers of hazelnut, nougat, barley sugar, jellied fruits, almonds, brioche, and honey unfold with richness and precision. Versatile and gastronomically engaging, it pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes—from aged parmesan and Jabugo ham to oysters, turbot with truffle, spiced cuisines, or desserts such as carrot cake, tarte Tatin, and cheesecake—making it a truly timeless accompaniment to any occasion.
