Product details

Homare Nigori Strawberry is produced by Aizu Homare Brewery—also known simply as Homare—in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture. The brewery, established in 1918, has a long tradition of crafting unfiltered nigori sake. For over five decades, their original nigori was beloved locally. After extensive experimentation—sampling more than 1,000 flavor blends—they introduced the strawberry variation, combining all‑natural strawberry juice with their signature creamy nigori base. The result is a product free from artificial flavoring agents or acidifiers, achieving a consistently joyful, reproducible profile that reflects Homare’s commitment to quality brewing over generations.

With just 7–8% ABV, Homare Strawberry Nigori is approachable and gently effervescent. The aroma is dominated by fresh strawberries, cream, honey, and rice, creating a fragrant, smoothie-like impression that many liken to strawberry yogurt. On the palate, it delivers a velvety, slightly thick texture with balanced sweetness and a subtle tang—akin to a creamy fruit liqueur. Some describe it as akin to sipping a strawberry smoothie with gentle fermented rice nuance. This sake shines as an aperitif or dessert companion. It pairs beautifully with fresh strawberry shortcake, fruit tarts, or sorbet. For a refreshing twist, serve chilled over ice, or blend 1:1 with chilled milk to mimic a frozen dessert—Tippsy recommends freezing it into sorbet cubes and topping with milk for a playful treat. Spicy snacks or spicy Asian dishes also work well—the sweetness and creaminess of the sake balance heat and texture, making it versatile as both a digestif and a casual party pour.
