Brewed in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Otokoyama Spring Invitation (Harunoizanai) Junmai Sake is a seasonal release from one of Japan’s most respected breweries. Otokoyama is renowned for its use of pristine Hokkaido spring water and locally grown rice, reflecting the clean, crisp character of the northern terroir. Since becoming the first sake in the world to win the Monde Selection Award in 1977, Otokoyama has continued to earn global acclaim, including numerous gold medals from both domestic and international competitions, as well as recognition from the National Research Institute of Brewing (NRIB). Rooted deeply in Hokkaido’s sake tradition, the brewery crafts Spring Invitation as a gentle welcome to the season of renewal, celebrating nature’s softness and vitality.
This Junmai-shu is light and approachable, with a modest 11% ABV, making it perfect for leisurely sipping. It offers a graceful balance of soft sweetness and refreshing acidity, evoking the subtle transitions of spring. On the palate, the sake is smooth, lightly fruity, and clean, with a delicate finish that refreshes without overwhelming. Its elegant profile makes it an ideal match for seafood salads, tempura, raw oysters, and white fish carpaccio—dishes that mirror its seasonal brightness and allow its understated complexity to shine. Enjoy it slightly chilled to best appreciate its light floral notes and gentle umami.
