Fait‑Main—aptly meaning “handmade” in French—is the passion project of French-born winemaker Benoît Touquette, who combines the rigors of French tradition with Northern California’s creative spirit. This small-batch, family-run endeavor focuses on precision and terroir, with Touquette guiding every decision from vine to bottle. The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the storied Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard in St. Helena. The site—planted over 150 years ago—features rocky, Bordeaux-like soils and lyre-trained clone 4 vines. In partnership with the Beckstoffer family, Touquette uses late-season shade cloth to moderate ripening, preserving structure and future ageability. With only 300 cases produced and an elegant label displaying a hand-crafted emblem inspired by Touquette’s hometown of Lyon, this wine encapsulates Fait‑Main’s artisanal ethos.
In the glass, the 2022 Las Piedras Cabernet impresses with explosive aromatics of blueberry framed by layers of red and black fruit.
