Davies Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a masterful expression from the Davies family—renowned for founding Schramsberg and establishing the J. Davies Estate. With over fifty years of winemaking expertise, the Davies blend together small-lot Cabernet Sauvignon from across Napa’s prestigious sub-appellations—Mayacamas Mountains, Vaca Range, Diamond Mountain, Howell and Spring Mountains, plus valley floor sites like Oakville, St. Helena, Carneros and Calistoga—with low-yield farming ensuring concentrated ripeness. Fermented and aged for 21 months in 62% new French oak coopered by Damy, Darnajou, Vicard, and Atelier, the wine showcases the balanced mid-valley character of Napa with firm structure and polished consumer-friendly appeal.
On the nose, it opens with enticing aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, plum, blackberry, and açaí, woven together with savory accents of thyme and tobacco leaf, complemented by subtle layers of cocoa nib, cardamom, caramel, and coffee bean. The palate is plush yet structured: lush dark red and black fruits transition into mid-palate flavors of cherry, chocolate, Indian spices, and black pepper, all beautifully supported by integrated tannins for a plush, enduring finish. With its 14.5% ABV and vibrant acidity, this Cabernet Sauvignon pairs luxuriously with roasted garlic cheddar bruschetta, Moroccan lamb tagine, duck burgers, grilled ribeye or braised short ribs, and beautifully balances richer chocolate‑based desserts.
