Product details
Château Pontet-Canet 2021 is a testament to the resilience of great terroirs and skilled vineyard management in a challenging year. Following an unusually mild February and an early bud burst, the growing season was marked by a succession of extreme weather events. The estate’s commitment to biodynamic practices, bolstered by innovations like its new herbarium, ensured timely and effective responses to these conditions. Harvested between September 24 and October 12, the blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot showcases the estate’s ability to produce a wine of remarkable quality even in difficult vintages.
In the glass, the 2021 vintage displays a deep colour with garnet reflections. The nose is precise and complex, offering layers of cedar, blackcurrant, graphite, and spice. On the palate, it is creamy, clean, and elegantly structured, with well-integrated tannins supporting a dense, persistent mid-palate. Flavours of oak, chocolate, cedar, and black fruit evolve into a smoky, floral finish, reflecting both the character of the vintage and the meticulous craftsmanship of Château Pontet-Canet.
