Product details
Adelphi Selection, the independent bottler revived in 1993 and later owned by Keith Falconer and Donald Houston, focuses on rare single-cask expressions chosen for their unique character and exceptional flavor. This release, distilled in 2013 at the rarely bottled Glenlossie distillery in Speyside, was matured for ten years in a refill Oloroso sherry butt (Cask No. 5304) and bottled at 59% ABV. Only 467 bottles were filled in 2024, offering collectors and whisky lovers an exclusive glimpse into Glenlossie’s clean and grassy spirit, now shaped by rich sherry influence.
On the nose, the whisky unfolds with a vibrant mix of juicy clementine, pink grapefruit, lilac, smashed bananas, and youthful mint, with undertones of cream, sheeny parchment, and a hint of peppermint wrapper. The palate is plush and layered—think crème de banane, floral pastilles, birch bark, graham cracker, violet creams, walnut skin, and a gently spiced orchard note. The finish is spritely yet enduring, exuding an enveloping creaminess throughout. This expression is perfect neat or with a splash of water to unlock subtler floral and fruit dimensions. It pairs beautifully with lightly sweet desserts such as banana cream pie or crème brûlée, while contrasting elegantly with nutty cheese like aged Gouda or young Manchego, making it a refined choice for contemplative sipping and indulgent food moments alike.
