The 2017 Capbern displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color with a complex bouquet of baked blackberries, Morello cherries, cassis, fertile loam, unsmoked cigars, and sautéed herbs.
Deep garnet-purple in color, it hits the ground running with bold, expressive notes of warm cassis, boysenberries, and black cherries, with an undercurrent of clove oil, fertile loam, cedar chest, and tar. Medium to full-bodied.
Lots of blackberry, blackcurrant, and licorice on the nose, powerful and racy tannins like we are expecting at SaintJulien. Magnificent richness of texture, harmonious with cedar and truffles, a perfect balance.
This wine is rock-solid, featuring a core of dark plum, boysenberry, and blackberry compote
flavors. These are complemented by notes of cedar, savory herbs, tobacco, and singed
apple wood, which add texture and energy to the finish.
Aromas of fresh raspberries with some lemon peel and fresh herbs follow through to a full to medium body. Fresh herbs and graphite highlight the wine. Chewy finish. Needs time to soften. Better after 2022.
