Product details
Stags' Leap Winery’s 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 375ml is a beautifully crafted wine that honors the estate’s 125th anniversary, embodying both the winery’s storied legacy and dedication to precise winemaking. Throughout fermentation and maceration, Winemaker Christophe Paubert and his team meticulously monitored each lot daily, carefully adjusting pump-over techniques, oxygen exposure, and fermentation temperatures to achieve optimal extraction and balance. Following gentle pressing, 37% of the wine was aged in new French oak barrels while the remainder rested in seasoned French oak, a thoughtful approach that preserves the wine’s vibrant fruit character while adding layers of subtle oak complexity. The wine was aged for 20 months, allowing it to develop its rich depth, elegance, and structure.
Sourced primarily from cooler southern Napa Valley vineyards with a focus on the valley floor, this Cabernet Sauvignon displays the finesse and focus for which Stags' Leap is celebrated. The 2018 growing season offered near-perfect conditions, with ample winter rainfall, a mild spring, and a slow, even-paced harvest, resulting in wines of exceptional concentration, color, and balance. In the glass, the wine bursts with wild bramble berry fruits, accented by floral notes of lavender and violet, while spiced nuances of crème brûlée, allspice, and black pepper from oak integration add warmth and sophistication. The palate is rich and textured, offering layers of juicy cassis, blackberry, bittersweet chocolate, and hints of red rose, all wrapped in silky, cocoa-like tannins and culminating in a long, mouthwatering finish. This wine is approachable upon release and pairs wonderfully with grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, or earthy mushroom risotto, making it an ideal companion for both celebratory occasions and elegant everyday dining.
