The 2019 Davies Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon marks the eighth vintage from the Davies family, proprietors of Schramsberg Vineyards and the J. Davies Estate. Drawing on expertise from their Diamond Mountain estate wines, this bottling showcases a broader expression of Napa Valley through a blend of grapes from seven premier vineyard sites across the region—including Atlas Peak, Oakville, Rutherford, Saint Helena, Diamond Mountain, Howell Mountain, and Calistoga. These vineyards, meticulously farmed for low yields and high concentration, contribute to a Cabernet Sauvignon with vibrant fruit flavors, rich texture, and firm yet supple tannins. The 2019 vintage benefited from a cool, balanced growing season, producing wines with excellent structure, freshness, and aging potential.
The 2019 vintage opens with bountiful aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, and raspberry compote, accented by subtle notes of vanilla, anise, and coffee beans. On the palate, it offers dense flavors of blueberry and dark chocolate, complemented by hints of vanilla and white pepper. The wine's integrated tannins provide structure, leading to a youthful and lingering finish. This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs excellently with hearty dishes such as braised beef short ribs, grilled lamb chops, or aged cheeses, enhancing the dining experience with its rich and layered profile.
