Product details
St. George Single Malt Whiskey is a testament to the pioneering spirit of St. George Spirits, an artisanal distillery based in Alameda, California. Founded in 1982 by Jörg Rupf, the distillery has been at the forefront of American craft distillation. Master Distiller Lance Winters, who joined in 1996, brought a vision to create a distinctive American single malt. The Lot 24 release is a culmination of this vision, blending 25 diverse casks, including Kentucky and Tennessee bourbon barrels, apple brandy barrels, rum casks, and various wine casks such as Torrontés, Tannat, Port, and California Sauternes-style. This meticulous selection results in a layered and expressive whiskey that reflects decades of craftsmanship.
On the nose, it opens with warm orange aromas, transitioning to pastry and cocoa powder, with hints of cola. The palate offers flavors of brown butter, spice cake, cocoa, and toasted marshmallow, culminating in a bright smoky finish. This elegant whiskey is best enjoyed neat or with a single large ice cube to fully appreciate its nuanced flavors. Pair it with rich dishes like grilled steaks or aged cheeses to complement its complexity.
