- The Sherry Influence: Unlike heavy, dark sherry bombs, this cask provides a more subtle, elevated fruit layer. Enjoyable aromas of bitter oranges, dried coconut, and ripe apricots unfurl slowly.
- Wood & Spice: Elegant layers of sandalwood, herbal teas, and a light touch of medicinal menthol linger gracefully in the background.
Palate & Structural Texture
- Mouthfeel: Quite a waxy mouthfeel that coats the palate completely. It is dense, viscous, and initially feels much sweeter on the tongue than the industrial nose implies.
- Taste Profile: Now more on citrus fruit; lemon zest and lime juice. Toasted bread and some vanilla. intermingling with a richer mid-palate of custard and creamy honeyed fruit.
- The Mid-Palate Kick: The 52.8% cask strength asserts itself with a warming, peppery spike. Deep notes of gingerbread, caramelized ginger, and nutmeg merge into a darker layer of roasted almonds and crisp peat smoke.
The Finish
- Length & Character: Distinctly long, warming, and intensely drying toward the very end.
- Final Notes: The dram fades into lingering notes of ginger resin, grape seeds, and orange peel. A subtle, pleasing oaky bitterness frames the final trail of sea salt and fading wisps of campfire ash.
