Produced by Scarecrow, one of Napa Valley's most respected estates, M. Étain reflects the same commitment to meticulous vineyard stewardship and site expression that defines the estate's flagship releases. The challenging 2011 growing season featured a cool climate, extended ripening, and one of the smallest harvests in recent memory, requiring careful canopy management and multiple rounds of fruit thinning to achieve optimal balance. Hand-harvested and crafted entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit was matured in French oak for approximately 16 months before bottling without fining or filtration, preserving the vineyard's authentic character.
The 2011 vintage presents classic Rutherford notes of raspberry, fresh plum, and dusty cocoa, complemented by subtle hints of sweet anise, cinnamon bark, and bayberry that reflect the slow, cool growing season. Structured yet graceful, it finishes with lingering impressions of warm plum, vanilla, and gently toasted oak.
