Moussé Fils Eugène Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut pays tribute to Eugène Moussé, the founder of the family house, through a cuvée whose history reaches back to the perpetual blend established in 2003. The family estate is rooted in Cuisles in the Vallée de la Marne, where the Moussé family has developed a particular focus on Pinot Meunier alongside Pinot Noir. Eugène is built around a perpetual reserve, incorporating reserve material dating from 2003 onward and refreshed each year with 50% of the new harvest, creating continuity while allowing each new release to retain freshness. The current composition is centered on Pinot Meunier with Pinot Noir, and the cuvée undergoes an extended period of maturation before disgorgement. This combination of long family heritage, perpetual blending, and a strong emphasis on Meunier gives Eugène its distinctive identity within the Moussé Fils range.
The nose presents ripe pear, dried apple, fresh pastry, candied citrus, and delicate floral and nutty nuances, while the palate is broad and generous with a rounded, concentrated texture, lively freshness, and a fine, persistent mousse. Further notes of soft cherry, salted almond, and candied lemon contribute additional depth, leading to a dry, saline and mineral-tinged finish. The cuvée is particularly well suited to international street food, including pizza, focaccia, burgers, nuggets, wheat tacos, pita bread, samosas, and cheese strudels.
