Product details
From the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Pierre Gelin presents Gevrey-Chambertin Clos de Meixvelle 2021, a distinguished monopole vineyard with deep family roots dating back to the early 20th century. Founded in 1925 and now led by Pierre-Emmanuel Gelin, the estate is known for its environmentally mindful vineyard practices and dedication to expressing site-specific character. Clos de Meixvelle, acquired in 1961, features vines planted over 70 years ago on a gentle slope of alluvial soils layered over limestone, providing both structure and minerality. Carefully handled fruit is fully destemmed and fermented using native yeasts, then matured for an extended period in traditional Burgundian barrels, allowing the wine to develop complexity and balance while preserving its authentic regional identity.
On the palate, this Gevrey-Chambertin displays classic depth and structure, with pronounced notes of black berries and black cherries supported by subtle floral and earthy undertones. The texture is medium-bodied yet firm, with well-defined tannins that lend both grip and aging potential. Layers of dark fruit and gentle spice unfold gradually, leading to a long, composed finish that reflects both power and finesse. This expression pairs beautifully with hearty dishes such as coq au vin, roasted game birds, or richly prepared meats, complementing its savory depth and structured profile.
