Product details
Casas del Bosque Carmenere Gran Reserva 2019 comes from Almahue in Chile’s Cachapoal Valley, an area within the Peumo sub-appellation known for its Carmenere. The region’s warm days and cool nights provide a significant day-to-night temperature range that supports balanced fruit development. At the winery, selected grapes were processed in stainless steel tanks, followed by an additional seven days of maceration to build structure and depth. The resulting wine underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, including a portion of new barrels, and was aged for 10 months before blending, filtration, and bottling.
The 2019 vintage presents a mature, plum-driven profile with subtle spice and refreshing acidity. On the palate, it is broad and structured, with enveloping tannins and a long, pleasant finish. Its balanced character makes it well suited to traditional Chilean dishes featuring onions, sweet peppers, and raisins, as well as savory preparations with soy sauce, pork, duck, or vegetables. It can also complement mildly sweet cheeses such as Gruyère or Chanco.
