Product details
Rising from the lofty elevations of the Vaca Mountain range, this release reflects the unique character of its high-altitude home. Established in 1987, the estate embraced the rugged terroir of Atlas Peak before the appellation was officially recognized, championing its rocky, well-drained soils and cooler climate. The result is a bold expression that carries both power and elegance, much like its namesake from Greek mythology, Atlas, who bore the weight of the world on his shoulders. Aged for 30 months in French oak barrels, with a portion crafted from new oak, it emerges with layered depth and remarkable structure.
The sensory experience begins with a cascade of aromas—ripe plums, dark cherries, warm cinnamon, and cocoa nibs rising with intensity. On the palate, these flavors unfold with richness and weight, supported by a plush mouthfeel and structured backbone. Hearty tannins provide longevity, while maintaining a silky texture that reveals refined notes of cassis and brown butter on the lingering finish. This is a hillside expression that captures both the strength and grace of its mountain origins.
