The classy fruit is shaped by French oak (40% new) and firm tannins through the finish. This is supple and sweet and shows blood plum, raspberry, red licorice and even cocoa. The wine is long and lingering and shapely. Sophisticated.
Deep garnet-purple in color, it hits the ground running with bold, expressive notes of warm cassis, boysenberries, and black cherries, with an undercurrent of clove oil, fertile loam, cedar chest, and tar. Medium to full-bodied.

This wine boasts a beautiful, intense color with black and violet glints. The nose, still

A wine with great breed. Bright, intense ruby-red colour. Complex aromas of Morello cherry ("griotte"), cherrywood, raspberry, and, in some years, a discreet touch of tobacco.
Aromas of fresh raspberries with some lemon peel and fresh herbs follow through to a full to medium body. Fresh herbs and graphite highlight the wine. Chewy finish. Needs time to soften. Better after 2022.

The second wine of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou matches many châteaux's Grand Vins. Their 2020 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou (52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot) reveals a dense purple hue as well as full-bodied array of cassis.
Bright Pomelo citrus intertwined with tangerine oil make up the fragrant aromatics. Subtle melon and stone fruit nuances are balanced by a creamy mid-palate and crisp acidity plus a nice long finish.
