Product details

Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars has a long and distinguished wine reputation and is considered a Napa Valley first-growth estate. We are best known for our estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignons—CASK 23, S.L.V., and FAY. Over the years, these wines have become some of the most highly regarded and collected wines worldwide. They are fashioned to express classic elegance, structure, and ageability, and to reflect the place in which they are grown.

Founded in 1970, it was a time when the Napa Valley was undergoing a renaissance after the devastating effects of prohibition. Although there had once been some 140 wineries in the valley, there were fewer than 20 by the mid-1960s when a new spirit of excitement had returned to the Napa Valley.

Their signature style has often been described as “an iron fist in a velvet glove,” a reference to the artful balance—between ripeness and restraint, softness and structure—that yields wines of exceptional beauty and long life. Achieving that style requires a level of attention to detail found only among the world’s most dedicated wine producers.

They pick in small lots and maintain the identity of those lots through destemming/crushing, fermentations, and aging. These distinct lots provide the winemaking team with a rich palette from which to construct each blend. All of our wines aged exclusively in French oak, but we choose from a variety of coopers and forests to achieve the best harmony.

Tasting Notes:

This wine has a multilayered mouthfeel, offering incredible earthiness, as well as blackberry and bramble berry aromas on the nose, along with hints of forest floor and Fraises des Bois. On the palate, there is a beautiful balance of complexity and elegance, featuring juicy, mouthwatering blackberry and black raspberry alongside hints of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. With fine velvety tannins, this wine is unctuous, showcasing the iconic power and longevity that have become synonymous with Stags’ Leap estate wines. Drinking beautifully now and will continue to age across the next 25+ years.
