Product details
Born from the now-silent Old Midleton site, the Midleton Very Rare Chapter three 47-Year Release stands as a testament to nearly half a century of patience, craftsmanship, and heritage. This collection is drawn from some of the final drops produced before the great copper pot stills fell silent in 1975, making it a once-in-a-lifetime creation. The presentation is equally remarkable—each mouth-blown decanter is individually shaped and polished by the artisans of Waterford, while bespoke cabinets by master craftsman John Galvin are fashioned from rare elm burr and detailed with sterling silver, reclaimed oak, and hand-etched illustrations, echoing the grandeur of the world’s largest pot still that still stands as a monument in Midleton.
The 47-year expression reveals a deep and layered profile: opening with forest fruits, glazed cherries, muscovado sugar, and almond flake, before unfolding into roasted coffee, caramelized fruits, pistachio, and hazelnut. Hints of peppermint and gentle spice weave through, carried by oak’s refined influence. The finish lingers with soft fruits and warming complexity, a graceful harmony shaped by decades of undisturbed maturation.
