While not officially labeled bourbon, most of Jack Daniel’s whiskeys meet the criteria required to be called a straight bourbon. After distillation, Jack Daniel’s Whiskey undergoes what is referred to as the ‘Lincoln County Process.’ Jack Daniel’s allows its whiskey to drip for six days in 10-foot vats, passing through charcoal that was made by burning maple wood soaked with 140 proof Jack Daniel’s whiskey, before being put in new charred oak barrels.
Nose is a pleasant mix of fruity sweetness, vanilla custard, oak, and banana. A rush of corn and banana upfront that’s followed by a sweet blend of vanilla and walnut. Minor traces of smoke, cinnamon, and maple creep in and add some additional nuance. The palate is distinctly Jack and fun to drink.
