Product details
Giacomo Borgogno Barolo Riserva 1982 represents the historic character of Borgogno, one of the oldest producers in Barolo, with a long-standing commitment to a classic, naturally styled expression of the Langhe. The 1982 growing season began later than average following an extended winter, followed by a temperate spring with rainfall in May and a hot, dry summer. Warm conditions continued through September, creating favorable conditions for grape maturation. Following regular fermentation and submerged-cap maceration, the wine was racked at the end of November, then aged for one year in concrete vats and a further five years in medium-to-large Slavonian oak barrels. It was bottled at the end of April 1988, reflecting an extended maturation period characteristic of this historic Riserva.
With its decades of bottle age, this Barolo Riserva is presented as a mature expression of Borgogno’s traditional style. The producer specifically notes that older bottles may develop sediment over time, so careful decanting shortly before serving is recommended. Rather than prescribing a single “perfect” pairing, Borgogno emphasizes that food preferences are personal and suggests enjoying this historic Barolo in good company, making it a versatile choice for a shared meal or special occasion.
