Domaine Arnaud Mortet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 represents a distinguished Grand Cru expression from Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. Arnaud Mortet has continued the family domaine’s Gevrey-Chambertin heritage since taking responsibility for the estate in 2006, carrying forward the pursuit of refined, precise expressions of Burgundy’s individual vineyard sites. For the 2017 Charmes-Chambertin, the fruit comes from an old-vine parcel at the northern end of Charmes, bordering Griotte-Chambertin, with red soils containing abundant pebbles and active chalk. The vines are more than 40 years old, with approximately half of the fruit retained as whole clusters, followed by maturation in oak for 17 months, including a substantial proportion of new oak. The finished expression is unfined and unfiltered, preserving the character and structure of this distinctive Grand Cru site.

The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin opens with sweet cherry, red berries, dried flowers, and rich soil tones, complemented by an elegant floral character. On the palate, it is full and layered, with a generous core of fruit, velvety tannins, notable energy, and a persistent finish.
