Product details
Nearly five decades ago, Cakebread introduced its first Napa Valley Chardonnay, setting a benchmark that continues to guide each new release. The 2023 vintage draws fruit from the renowned Carneros appellation in southern Napa Valley, where cool bay breezes and foggy mornings create an ideal environment for freshness and balance. Planted in predominantly Haire Loam soils, the vines naturally moderate growth, allowing for deep concentration and clarity of character. Carefully gathered at night in small lots and gently pressed as whole clusters, the juice is nurtured in French oak barrels and matured on fine lees for added depth, resulting in a polished and expressive Napa Valley Chardonnay that reflects both place and heritage.
This Chardonnay opens with vibrant aromas of ripe pear and delicate floral notes, followed by layered flavors of melon, lemon curd, and crisp apple. Subtle touches of baking spice and lightly toasted brioche add richness, while bright acidity and fresh citrus tones keep the profile lively and focused. A gentle oak influence brings harmony and structure, carrying through to a long, refined finish that is both elegant and satisfying.
