Product details
From the house whose guiding ethos declares “Cask is King,” this release carries the character of both place and process. The liquid begins its journey on Scotland’s Islay, crafted from 100 % malted barley high in peat content, then matured for ten years before receiving a final flourish of re-charred cask finish. Bottled by Blackadder, this expression is singular—drawn from a select cask and released with minimal alteration. Its provenance is discreet though its impact is bold: the smoky island influence meets intensified wood contact in a structure designed for admirers of depth and intensity.
On the nose presents as earthy peat and sea-salt brine, moving into vanilla cream, white orchard fruit and a subtle ashiness that speaks to the re-charred vessel. The palate is full-bodied, layered with curled ribbons of sea salt, dark chocolate, black tea and a firm peppery bite. A coppery edge of char lingers, anchoring the sweetness of caramel and honeyed malt. The finish carries on longer than expected—waves of medicinal peat, bitter cocoa and grain husk ripple out with a bracing coastal air quality.
