Ardnamurchan Tokaji Cask Release is a distinctive limited expression from Ardnamurchan Distillery on Scotland’s remote west coast, showcasing the producer’s ability to explore different cask influences while maintaining the character of its Highland origin. This inaugural Tokaji Cask Release uses 100% unpeated Ardnamurchan spirit, with the maturation centered on 28 Bourbon barrels re-racked into Tokaji casks, complemented by two fully matured Bourbon barrels. The combination creates a distinctive meeting point between Ardnamurchan’s clean, unpeated character and the rich influence of Tokaji-seasoned oak. Like the distillery’s other releases, this expression is presented with natural colour and without chill filtration, preserving its original character and texture.
In the glass, Ardnamurchan Tokaji Cask Release shows an acacia-honey colour, with a lively nose of fresh pear, green apple, bamboo, cornflakes, sandalwood, sour apple sweets, and baked banana, bringing together floral and funky elements. The palate develops into sugared almonds, nashi pear, sweet-and-salty popcorn, white pepper, mace, lemon pith, candied ginger, rose petals, and pine wood. The finish is saline, spicy, and balanced, bringing the diverse fruit, floral, savory, and spice notes together in a composed finale.
