Product details
2018 was a remarkable vintage. Abundant rain in the wintertime led to a mild spring. Bud break occurred under ideal conditions. In our vineyards summer was characterized by warm days, yet received cool marine influence during the night. The extended sunshine in the fall was the icing on the cake; the fruit accumulated flavor complexity with gradual increase in sugar levels.
The 2018 Terra 9 delivers on the promise of its sumptuous vintage with wonderful ripeness, complexity, and length. The nose layers rich boysenberry and red plum aromas with cooler earth and cedar notes. In the mouth, a sleek core of ripe Bing cherry and opulent berries brightens shades of dried thyme, bay leaf, and the stony minerality this wine is known for. The midpalate soars with vibrant red and purple fruit, warm baking spices, and graceful, well-knit tannins that will support years of additional evolution in the cellar. The long, lingering finish offers fragrant notes of dried mint, raspberry, and blueberry pie.
