Mr. Mezcal Tepeztate represents the pinnacle of Mr. Mezcal’s three‑generation commitment to artisanal mezcal making. Harvested from Agave marmorata—a wild Tepeztate that can take up to 35 years to mature—this spirit is the product of rugged cliffsides and ravine soils in Oaxaca. The plants used today trace back to seedlings planted in the late 1980s and early 1990s, giving each bottle profound depth and rarity. Low-yield and technically demanding, each batch demands ~90 kg of Tepeztate piñas to equal what 6 kg of Espadín would yield. From roasting in pit ovens and tahona milling, to fermenting with open‑air yeasts and crafting copper still double distillation, the entire process is powered by human hands—with no machinery—even in bottling. Mr. Mezcal Tepeztate has earned top accolades—Platinum, Gold, and Best Mezcal in the LA Spirits Competition, and design honors at San Francisco World Spirits Competition—underscoring its premium quality.
