Product details
Château Mouton Rothschild 1993 is a testament to the resilience and artistry of one of Bordeaux's most iconic estates. Situated in Pauillac, the château was acquired in 1853 by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild and has since been synonymous with innovation and excellence. Notably, in 1924, Baron Philippe de Rothschild revolutionized Bordeaux winemaking by bottling the entire vintage at the estate, a practice that has become standard among top producers. The 1993 vintage, crafted under challenging climatic conditions, showcases the estate's commitment to quality. Comprising 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc, the wine was aged for 18 months in 100% new oak barrels.
In the glass, the 1993 Mouton Rothschild reveals a deep color with a slight orange hue, indicative of its maturity. The nose is refined, offering aromas of blackcurrant, leather, cold smoke, and delicate caramel notes. On the palate, it is round and richly flavored from the outset, with warm notes of humus mingling with black fruit. The mid-palate displays superb balance, where the tannins become more velvety, leading to a long and compact finish that leaves a lingering sensation of warmth. This vintage pairs exceptionally well with dishes such as sirloin steak, filet mignon, grilled or roasted meats, and game . Serving at a cool cellar temperature of around 15.5°C (60°F) is recommended to enhance its freshness and lift.
