Offering up aromas of sweet plums, fruitcake, warm spices, smoke, caramel and cedar, the 1982 Pétrus is medium to full-bodied, sweet and fleshy, built around powdery tannins that assert themselves on the somewhat firm finish.
Each box is individually numbered, with only 800 produced in total. Inside, the case contains six bottles of Château Lafite Rothschild, making it a truly exclusive and special offering.
While this offering easily wins the prize for most festive looking bottle, it also represents the latest release from one of Champagne's most well-known houses. This wine is the partner to Taittinger's existing Nocturne, a "sec" Champagne.
The blend that made it is based on little more than one third of the 2003 vintage (50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir) and a little more than one-third of three vintages (2002, 2000 and 1999).
