Nose: intense aromas of walnuts and earthy, ripe blackberries, plus fresh ginger and spicy oak - above all the scent of old leather and tobacco leaves.
Taste: mouth-filling with rich notes of ripe, dark fruits and mild spices, then the walnuts again - almost oily.
Finish: long finish with tones of ripe mandarins and waxed yellow plums.
This expression from GlenDronach's 18th batch of single cask bottlings is a 26 year old single malt, distilled all the way back in 1994 and left to age in an Oloroso sherry puncheon. After 26 years of rest, the whisky was bottled up at cask strength, producing 692 bottles of top-notch, well-sherried Highland single malt.
