Taking a different, slightly more nuanced tack than Mondavi's Oakville bottling above, the BDX is more restrained vis-á-vis ripeness and plays to the grape's herbal side while retaining a good fix on black cherry fruit. It is full, nicely balanced and fairly supple in feel with nominal tannin peeking through at the finish, and, while not a wine in need of an extended stay in the cellar, it is certain to repay four or five years of waiting.
