This limited-release blended Japanese Whisky from Mars Shinshu in Nagano takes the Iwai Tradition blend of grain and malt finished in ex-Pinot Noir and Cabernet casks from the Mars Winery in Yamanashi. The classic Iwai Tradition has a minimal amount of peat and is aged in ex-bourbon, sherry, and wine casks before the fresh wine barrel finish. The resulting whisky has a deep reddish color and tons of wonderful unique flavors, expect sweet pomegranate, fresh herbal woodsy character, cola spice, white pepper and dark red fruit.
The nose shows aromas of toasted oats, strawberries, and sweet cream which transition to a palate of pomegranate molasses, rosemary, and pink peppercorn with a lingering hint of cinnamon.
